First of all, no need to set short retention time for the Kafka topic. It can be 1 week.

Second, on warmup events are streamed from the topic, from some configured point in time that is then translated into offsets.

Third, ttl is lazy, so only if item is fetched then, if ttl expired or will be fetched from DynamoDB.
